Match last night on bog. Enemy had four Cheetahs. They accounted for more damage and more kills than the entire rest of the their team combined. They did not appear to have dropped together, but they worked together like a pack of hyenas: One would peak over and scratch you at long range. The other two were running around flanking. You would turn to hit one and the others would nail you. They did this repeatedly. But for being one of their victims it was really impressive to watch. Yes, the rest of their team certainly helped but it was the Cheetahs that gave nearly all of our side the fidgets.

I am not claiming Cheetahs are OP or anything like that. I think they have such good characteristics that they compensate for poor players more than just about any other mech. As such seeing a poorly driven Cheetah is a rarity, and thus they are a consistent and greater threat than many other mechs. Its just that when I see a Cheetah on the other team, my impulse thought is that the Cheetah is a greater threat to me and my side's chances of winning more than any other mech. I feel like if I kill a Cheetah (or even just leg it) I feel I have done more to help my team win than killing a Dire or Atlas on the other side. I think this fear is common and is a real big part of why so many fall victim of "gotta chase the squirrel" mentality.

@ OP,
When there is someone on the other team who is also in an arctic cheetah -- more so if they get the foolish notion that going after me is a good idea...(we will both be taken out of the game regardless of who kills who)

I fear Blackjacks and Oxides still the most out of any mech, everything else i can usually handle. ACH are no easy mech to get rid of but if you start hitting there legs they usually run off and infd easier meat to pick on.

Light rushes in general, I guess. I'd much rather deal with an angry King Crab than with a skilled Arctic Cheetah pilot. And LRM boats if the mech I'm piloting doesn't have either ECM or Radar Deprivation. Everything else is manageable

I don't play the game or use the forums to get into flame wars over religion, government or conspiracy theories. Even though I do recognize the comedic value in them all. I know, I know, the level of discourse on any internet forum rarely rises above flame wars, etc. I got it. Nevertheless, can we try to stay on topic? Maybe just a wee bit of effort?

So, again I am trying to find out what mechs people really fear or just respect, and why. Perhaps others will find this topic engaging? If so we can discuss it. If not please allow the thread to die with dignity.

But don't hijack it just because you want to blather on about your personal view of Armageddon. Start your own [redacted] thread for that.
